How to switch successfully to DVB-T2 broadcasting at your home

How not to lose your favorite TV show in the new DBV-T2 standard

Since the new year, the broadcasting of the digital terrestrial (terrestrial) TV signal in the DVB-T format has definitively ended (Slovakia). This situation affected everyone who enjoyed watching their favourite series and movies over the antenna. It was a Europe-wide political decision a few years ago, when the 700 MHz band was promised by mobile operators to develop high-speed mobile networks - and digital TV platforms had to retreat. This left a "narrower space" for antenna-received TV channels, in which more content had to be crammed (more soundtracks for better sound, HD picture quality instead of outdated SD quality, more TV channels within one TV multiplex, more additional support functions than is interactivity, widescreen broadcasting, etc.). This required the newer and more economical HEVC-H.265 compression format instead of the previously used MPEG-2 format. DVB-T2 has become the new digital broadcasting standard.

Ako prejsť úspešne na DVB-T2 vysielanie aj u vás doma - ORAVA

The process of the second wave of digitization (from DVB-T to DVB-T2) took several years, but after the new year it is already completed in Slovakia and regardless of the location of the source from which the TV signal is transmitted to your TV, it is only in DVB-T2 standards. In order for your TV to be able to receive it and display it adequately, you must have a TV set with an integrated DVB-T2 tuner at home, or a separate set-top box with DVB-T2 + HEVC. However, older models through which you could receive and display the DVB-T standard do not meet the new standard, meaning that end users must replace them with newer models (and therefore either have to purchase the latest TV models with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner, or should buy a set-top box with DVB-T2 + HEVC). The costs of this exchange remain the responsibility of the end users, the state does not subsidize or otherwise contribute financially to this upgrade of the pleasure of TV. It's up to you which of the solutions you choose if you don't want to lose anything from the varied TV entertainment package.

Replacing the set-top box?

If you have decided to buy a set-top box, we would like to recommend from our offer HD digital terrestrial transmitter DVB-T2 Orava DVB-30 for the reception of digital terrestrial television and radio broadcasting with a memory for 500 programs. The device also plays content from audio / video files from external data units and can also record TV broadcasts to external units. Thanks to the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) function, you can record your favourite TV program to an external unit and watch it when it suits you - with a time delay, with a break, even at midnight - but you must have enough storage space on the external device. to upload this program. The Orava DVB-30 does not lack an electronic EPG program guide or automatic installation of TV channels. USB, HDMI, SCART and RF OUT connectors ensure sufficient device connectivity. The included remote control allows you to conveniently choose from the current menu of programs and functions. You can also use the LAN connector to connect to the Internet and use the YouTube platform, for example.
